David Kushner
Dr. Kushner began life among a family of musicians living on the frozen tundra of the northern Midwest. He eventually made his way to the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia for medical school. Post-graduate training in pediatrics, radiology and embryology occurred at the Boston Children’s Hospital, the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School and The National Institutes of Health in Bethesda. Dr. Kushner remained in Boston for 20 years serving as Associate Professor of Radiology and Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School. Following his Boston years, Kushner moved south to Washington, DC, where, for another 20 years, he served as Chief of Radiology at Children’s National Medical Center and Professor of Pediatrics and Radiology at the George Washington University. A life-long advocate for children’s health, Dr. Kushner also worked in the political arena as a federal congressional resource. Most recently, Kushner moved to Hampton Roads, serving as Chief of Pediatric Radiology at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and Professor of Pediatrics and Radiology at Eastern Virginia Medical Center. He was elected to serve as President of the Society for Pediatric Radiology and President of the American College of Radiology. Each of these national organizations has awarded him their highest honor, the gold medal. Dr. Kushner is currently a retired professor, finally finding more time to pursue his lifetime interest in music: specifically studying, playing and playing with the guitar.
