The Tidewater Guitar Quartet will be playing for the opening of Highest Heaven, an exhibition of Spanish and Portuguese Colonial Art at Chrysler Museum on March 1st.
TGQ members Sam Dorsey, Cliff Morris, John Boyles, and Todd Holcomb have come together to deliver unique and energized performances of works written and arranged for guitar quartet. In addition to music for four guitars, their fresh approach to the guitar quartet repertoire incorporates instruments from the South American guitar orchestra—the baja and requinto. These instruments extend the low and high pitch ranges of the quartet, much like the modern string quartet. Their repertoire includes their own transcriptions of works by Debussy, Falla, Bernstein, and Scarlatti, as well as works composed for guitar quartet.
